Buying a home with my girlfriend

I made the mistake of buying a home with my girlfriend.

  • She came across the listing plus was super happy by the especially low price.

My good friend and I toured the house, plus she had all sorts of ideas for improvements. She advised that my buddy and I buy the home together, complete renovations over the next five years plus then sell for a profit. It sounded like a good plan to me, however unluckily, the location of the home wasn’t ideal. The nearby neighborhood is a high-crime area. My good friend and I would often hear sirens or people shouting in the streets. My good friend and I experienced vandalism, such as theft of our outdoor furniture, rocks through our windows plus spray painted graffiti on our fence. My good friend and I tried to sell the home through traditional methods. My good friend and I found a real estate agent and arranged for several open-houses. When my buddy and I got no offers, my buddy and I lowered the asking price. The home still didn’t sell. Around that time, my girlfriend plus I started having some concerns. It became clear that the relationship was not going to last. Getting out of the home became the priority. Our best plus only option was reaching out to a currency home buyer. My good friend and I were able to get an offer within twenty-four hours. While my buddy and I took a loss on the home, it was a relief to walk away. There were no worries over the location or making repairs. My good friend and I accepted the offer plus had currency in hand in under two weeks. I will be much more careful about making such a substantial investment in the future.
